    • Employers must Elect to participate in the scheme

Eligible employees:

  • Employees that have been terminated but are then re-engaged/re-hired by a business that was their employer on 1 March 2020.
  • Includes full-time, part-time and long term casuals (been with the employer on a regular basis for at least the previous 12 months as at 1 March 2020) and stood down employees.
  • Employee needs to be an Australian citizen or permanent visa holder or some other special category visa holder.
  • Self employed individuals will be eligible to receive the JobKeeper Payment where they have suffered or expect to suffer a 30% decline in turnover relative to a comparable prior period.
  • Where employees have multiple employers – only ONE employer will be eligible to receive the payment.
  • Employees who have applied or are already receiving Centrelink/Government support through JobSeeker, Coronavirus Supplement (extra $550fn) or Support Payments ($750 + $750) will need to advise Services Australia (Centrelink) of their JobKeeper income.

Payment process:

  • Eligible employers will be paid $1,500 per fortnight per eligible employee from 30 March 2020
  • Payments will be made to the employer monthly in arrears by the ATO (starting in the first week of May) so cash flow may still be an issue.
