Extension of Time to Access Superannuation

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Government is extending the application period for individuals to obtain early access to their superannuation of up to $10,000 from 24 September 2020 to 31 December 2020.

All other aspects of the Government initiative remain the same, namely:[/vc_column_text][mk_padding_divider size=”20″][vc_column_text]

  • The superannuation withdrawn is not subject to tax
  • The superannuation withdrawn will not affect Centrelink and Veterans’ Affairs payments, or the JobKeeper Payment
  • The initiative is available to Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents
  • Individuals must satisfy any one or more of the following requirements:
    • unemployed; or
    • eligible to receive a job seeker payment, youth allowance for jobseekers, parenting payment (single and partnered payments), special benefit or farm household allowance; or
    • on or after 1 January 2020 the individual was made redundant; or their working hours were reduced by 20 per cent or more; or for sole traders, their business was suspended or there was a reduction in their turnover of 20% or more.
  • Applications are made through the myGov website: www.my.gov.au.
